SCHOOL CLOSURE LINE
Keep the School Closure Line phone number handy. 573-7000. It's
the easiest way to find out if school or buses have been delayed
or canceled due to extreme weather conditions. Please remind your
child to bring a warm coat, mittens and hats to school every day.
Its quite chilly outside.
REMINDERS FROM THE CLASSROOM TEACHERS
" Please call the attendance line (573-1114) to report a child's
absent or tardy from school or send a written note to the school's
office.
" With the cold weather, please have you child dress in warm
clothing, a coat and gloves everyday. Parents of smaller children
are encouragned to keep an extra set of clothing in the classroom
incase of wet accidents. The health room does not have extra clothing
on hand anymore.
" MLK could use your unwanted clothing. If you have a few items
that our school's health room could have, it would be very appreciated.
Once in a while we have students who run into an accident or two-
stained tee shirt, wet or torn pants, etc. Many times, parents are
not available to come to the school to deliver a change of clothing.
If you have a few unwanted clothing items please sent them to us
with your student. For example...t-shirts, sweat pants, jeans &
belts from sizes to fit kindergarten students to fifth grade.
" Check your child's backpack for homework or notes from the
teacher. Older students have agendas that can be reviewed and might
also contain teacher-parent information.
" If you receive a notice of unpaid meals from our kitchen
staff, please try to make the appropriate payment on time to avoid
having your child eat a peanut butter sandwich for lunch instead
of a regular lunch. Account balance can be checked with our cooks.
They can be contacted at 573-1108.
" If your child has misplaced any of his/her belongings check
the lost and found box in our main hall.
" We suggest planning family vacations on non-school days to
avoid having a student fall behind on school work.
" Clip and send in BOX TOPS for education coupons found on
many cereal boxes, Kleenex boxes and other food packages.
" Remember that parents are welcome to check out books to share
with their students at home. Monday afternoon is the best day of
the week to visit the library because that is our slow period day-
although you are welcomed any school day. We want everyone to...Keep
