Message From the Principal :
Our November Parent Student Conferences are fast approaching. November 12-14 the students will be dismissed at 11:15 a.m. for conferencing. Our staff is looking forward to meeting with you and your son/daughter to share information about his/her academic progress. If you have questions or need to reschedule your conference time, please call 573-2200 and ask to speak with your child’s teachers.

First quarter will end October 30th and report cards will be mailed home to you on November 6th. As part of the Yakima School District’s “Student Accountability Plan”, students have to demonstrate the skills necessary to be successful at the next level. If you have a question or concern about your child’s academic progress, please call his/her teachers. The Lewis and Clark staff is available to talk with you, and we welcome your calls. Another way to communicate with teachers is in writing in your son /daughter’s agenda.

As part of our School Improvement Plan, which focuses on increasing student achievement in reading, writing, math and science. We have also intentionally included our school climate and increasing parent and community involvement. This school year we are continuing with our “STARRS”, S-Safe, T-Trustworthy, A-Academically Successful, R– Respectful, R-Responsible, S-Self-Manager. In addition we are teaching/modeling appropriate behaviors that reflect our efforts to maintain a safe and supportive
learning environment for your children. The character trait for November is RESPONSIBILTY. Being
responsible means that others can depend on you. It is doing something will well and to the best of your ability.

Our school counselors, Anita Navarro and Tcharles Anders have completed the 6th and 8th grade Bullying/Harassment/Intimidation classroom presentations to support the students in addressing each of these issues. Beginning in November the counselors will visit 7th and 8th grade classrooms to deliver the lessons on careers.

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and we will dismiss school at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26th and return to school the following Monday, December 1st.
