Our After School Program has been in existence for the past 18 years. It was developed as a classroom set aside for those students who really struggle with attendance and behaviors. These students have had multiple referrals and been through the discipline policy. Their next step in discipline is an expulsion. Instead of expelling the students we offer an alternative. Our After School Program is very strict and very structured. Below is a list of the guidelines for the classroom.

I. Program Philosophy

This program is designed to help students learn proper social skills and work habits to become successful life long learners. The program allows for a maximum of eighteen students and three staff members. ASP is designed so that students can keep up with their regularly scheduled classes.

II. School Guidelines

1. Students must not be on campus before 2:55 pm . ASP begins at 3:00pm and ends at 5:00 pm . They are to report directly to Room 402 and cannot be anywhere else on campus. When leaving ASP, students are to go directly home. There is no school on Mondays. If for some reason the student is dropped off early or late, the teacher needs a note, phone call, or the parent walks them to class.

2. Students must have 15 days with good behavior, work habits, and attendance before starting a partial schedule. Each student will be given one warning to behave. After the first warning the student will be asked to leave and it will be recorded as a failed day. Three failed days and students begin their fifteen days over again

When a student completes 15 days they attend their 7th and 8th periods as well as the ASP.

When a student completes 19 days they attend 4th-8th period as well as attending half of the ASP.

When a student completes 23 days they attend all their regular classes and are no longer required to attend the ASP.

3. Students MUST follow the ASP Guidelines and procedures.

4. Students MUST follow Lewis & Clark Rules and procedures.

5. Students enrolled in ASP, cannot participate in any school activities. If student enrolled in ASP are caught at school events it will be considered a failed day or their 15 days could start over.

6. Students are not allowed to have food or drink in the classroom.

7. Students will bring home a progress report on Tuesday and must return it with a parent signature on Wednesday.

8. Parents/Guardians must contact the Lewis and Clark Office (573-2200) by 2:00 pm in the event of an absence. The call must be made prior to the absence.

9. Parents/Guardians will be called when students earn a failed day or is absent without prior notification.

10. Teacher will give the supervising administrator a weekly progress report on each student.

11. Teacher, parents/guardians, and the supervising administrator will be in attendance at the entrance and exit conference held with students.
