The following are the rules for Lewis & Clark Middle School. Our rules are in addition to the official rules issues by the State of Washington and the Yakima School District as listed in your student agendas and as mailed to your family. Our rules support those established by the state and the Yakima School District and support our Yakima School District Vision: Building Community Through Education.

  3. Racial and sexual harassment of any nature (verbal or physical) is a more serious harassment offense and will result in immediate suspension from school [Safe; Self-manager; Respectful]
  4. As per district policy, students who display and gang affiliation [worn, spoken, gestured, possession of articles, and/or written] (examples but not all inclusive – web belts, colored shoe laces besides black and white, belt buckles with letters or numbers) will immediately be suspended since this behavior has been identified as exceptional misconduct by the Yakima School District. (YSD Policy 5.02.10) [Safe; Self-manager; Respectful]
  5. Clothing styles that disrupt the educational process or endanger students must not be worn to school. Students should not wear this clothing underneath coats, sweaters, and/or sweatshirts since hot weather may require the removal of these cover-up items or clothing.
  7. APPAREL: Anarchy symbols, hats/sunglasses worn in the building, hanging chains, pins/jewelry, and all other apparel that suggests identification with or advocacy for (by word or picture) gangs drugs, alcohol, tobacco, profanity, violence, sexual activities, and racist slurs. 8. Hugging, holding hands, kissing, and other affectionate acts are inappropriate anywhere at school as these acts are not respectful of staff, students and community members who must interact with you. Consequences may include classroom detention, after school detention, and possible suspension for repeated offenses. [Respectful; Responsible; Self-manager]
