ASB 2016-17 Activities Update
We completed our drive for toiletries for Rod's House, the Yakima Valley homeless drop-in shelter for teens. Even at Wilson, there are students who don't have a house to go home to, no where to wash up, make a meal, or sleep. Rods' House is the place they can go to have a hot meal, take a shower, and get a change of clean clothes. We also included a clothing drive for the IDentity Project to benefit foster children in the Yakima Valley. We gathered over 1,600 items to help our community with the help of some amazing students in Mrs. Carmack's 6th grade, Mrs. May's 7th grade, and Mr. Hausske's 8th grade CAVS classes. They all had a special treat for caring about others and supporting our ASB We School drives this year.
We gave every student and staff member, over 900 people, a Valentine Treat for our "We Are Love" campaign to show everyone how much we care about them at our school. ASB leaders hand delivered a positive message to every CAVS class in February.
Wilson students raised funds to buy goats for a village in India as part of their international initiative this spring. We even had baby goats visit our school and Mr. Ariaza kissed one along with others to celebrate the power of WE when we work together to help others.
Almost all of our activities are part of the We Day/We Schools/Free the Children foundation to make our world a better place for everyone. Every kind word, every good deed, matters to someone.
When we follow the CAVS Way everyday, we can make Wilson the best school it can be by working together. Will YOU join us?
